Excellims is an industry leading producer of HPIMS (High Performance Ion Mobility Spectrometry) technology and has an established product portfolio with global market placement.

Position Overview: 

Excellims is looking for strong candidates to fill the position of senior mechanical design engineer. The chosen candidate will join a fast paced research and development team of scientists and engineers dedicated to the development of next generation technology. Individual drive and flexibility to work in a rapidly developing entrepreneurial environment is expected. Suitable candidates will be hands on problem solvers with a proven design track record, a strong attention to detail and enthusiastically committed to learning new technology.

Primary functions of this position include: 

• Design of complex machined parts

• Design of sheet metal components and instrument enclosures

• Design of complex electromechanical assemblies

• Preparation of manufacturing documentation:

      - Part drawings and CAD file sets

      - Assembly drawings

      - Assembly instructions

      - Inspection drawings

      - Cable Drawings

• Sustaining engineering of existing product manufacturing documentation

• Working with vendors to produce prototype and production parts

• Preparing and presenting design review materials

• Supporting science staff designing and constructing prototype research apparatus

Required Qualifications: 

• 7+ years experience working as a mechanical design engineer developing commercial products

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field

• Proficient at producing drawing following the latest ANSI/ASME drafting standards

• Working knowledge of good engineering practices such as DFM/DFA/DFT

• Proficient in the use of latest 3D CAD tools, (SolidWorks preferred)

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Must be a permanent resident of the United States., U.S. citizen is preferred

Strongest Candidates will also have: 

• Analytical instrument or medical device product design experience

• Familiarity with latest rapid prototyping technologies
